Bird & Bird has two options available, each equally quick and reliable.

• Larger volumes of documents for translation
• Forensic Data Collection, eDiscovery or Managed Review

2. You can make a request using, TransPort. If you do not have an account set up on TransPort, simply email twobirds@transperfect.com, and one of your dedicated account managers will provide access to the platform.

Each and every project is different and has its own unique requirements. We will always undertake to complete your translations within your desired turnaround time, and won’t shy away from the most difficult of requirements.

That said, some useful figures that are useful to keep in mind:

• A single linguist can usually translate 2,000 – 3,000 words in a single day.
• We can scale resources to meet whatever your deadline is. Notably we have conducted projects to translate 150,000 words in 3 days in the past. 
• By leveraging different technologies we have  a number of workflows available, each with different speeds: ensuring that your work is done in the required timeframes. 

Depending on where your translations are being filed or served, they may require varying levels of certification. Check with the authority handling your matter to make sure you know exactly what is required for your documents.

For documents being served in the UK, you are likely to need a certificate of authenticity from an ISO-accredited language supplier, like ourselves.

If your documents are served via the Foreign Process Section (FPS), the translation process will need to follow strict guidelines to be accepted by the FPS. These guidelines must be followed or your hard work may be rejected at the final hurdle! A similar process is required for Witness Statements and your TransPerfect Legal representative is happy to talk this through with you as appropriate.

There are, for the most part, two main types of interpreting that are used in modern practice.

Simultaneous Interpreting:

• Process: The interpreters translates the spoken words in real time whilst the speaker continues to talk.
• Use Case: Common in courtrooms, large conferences or legal seminars where time efficiency is crucial.
• Equipment: Often requires specialised equipment such as headsets and microphones.
• Advantages: Provides immediate translation, helping maintain the flow of proceedings without interruptions.

Consecutive Interpreting:

• Process: The interpreter waits for the speaker to pause before translating what was just said.
• Use Case: Typically used in witness testimonies, client-attorney meetings and depositions where accuracy and detail are paramount.
• Equipment: Generally does not require special equipment, just a notebook for the interpreter.
• Advantages: Allows for more accurate and detailed translation, as interpreters have time to consider the context and nuances of the speech.

In summary, simultaneous interpreting is ideal for fast-paced legal settings requiring immediate translation, whilst consecutive interpreting is preferred for detailed and precise communication in one-on-one or small-group scenarios. It is worth noting that Simultaneous interpretation is generally more costly given at least 2 interpreters are required.
